Center for Arts & Ecology

at_DoM_sand.png

The Center for Arts and Ecology at Desert of Maine is the nonprofit that operates onsite at the iconic Freeport tourist attraction. The Desert has long stood as a visual reminder of nature’s resilience, and our mission is to inspire change through deepening people’s understanding of how certain ecosystems have survived and thrived here, despite the ecological disaster that created the “desert” landscape. Through collaborative, communal and immersive arts and ecology programming, we strive to facilitate the kinds of personal relationships to the land that will motivate people to advocate for nature and take meaningful action on climate change.
